Now THAT is a long barreled pistol! Nicely done, too, but the looks of it.
Interesting that it is all in the white & a huge lock bolt plate & 3 pins.

very nice pistol !! The lock bolt plate reminds me of the work of Alfred Gross . He sometimes used a plate that was a reflection of the lock plate.. LP

It is not a copy of anyone pistol. The late Don Newcomer turned up a pistol about like this in around 1983. Never had a chance to buy it as it was promised to some other collector. This has been in my mind for all these years & I realized at the age I'm getting that I'll never find one that I can buy so I made this. I took the sideplate idea from Louie's rifle. I'm giving this to my grandson after I get done playing with it.

With all due respect to a beautiful pistol, it's almost a short handled rifle. Another work of art whatever we call it.

The barrel is by Charlie Burton & 15 inches long at .40 cal. . The mounts I made by cutting up my Late Mother's silver sugar bowl. She would have roasted my hide for that if she was alive. The lock is from Blackley in England. His locks come as castings & requires plenty of elbow grease. I remade the springs as the sear spring was a big blob & the frizzen spring was way to thin. If anyone ever has done one of his locks you have problems figuring out how to lay everything out correctly in order to have it to function right. The smaller the lock the error can't be much. I have around 115 hours in this project.

You can buy sheet silver you know. Cutting up an ancestors prize possession? Not something I would do.

Gene aka Howard is a talented builder and restorer and a good friend. I love him like a brother but he a very tight with the money. Gene has pennies in his pockets right now where Lincoln is still crying from where Gene has pinched him so hard.

No, just kidding. Many of the rifles from yesteryears have repurposed parts and fittings and Gene has done a great job of taking something that was hidden away collecting dust and turned it into a piece of art. Good job brother Gene.

I'm glad you had the pictures posted on here Gene. Great job! I was hoping you would tell about repurposing the sugar bowl. Hey, the sugar bowl will see more use now than it did just setting in the cupboard.

Work by Granddad with silver from Great Grandmother, be sure to document this for him, it would be a shame for this information to be lost down the line.

I'll mark it under the barrel. The sugar bowl didn't do nothing for me. I don't know of anyone who uses real silverware at this time or real silver side dishes.
