On a durs egg lock which way does the fly go in? Mine popped out before I could see the orientation. Thanks from a rank amateur. Dan.

Pointed side down. I’m not a big fan of that fly configuration either. I drew a diagram of the stirrup and fly positions of those L&R locks on the beer refrigerator in my shop so that I would know how to reassemble (even after 35 years of doing this)..Vexing.....

Thanks much. Is that down toward the bottom of the lock? I hear ya. It’s been 35 yrs since I built the last one. My old brain is I as bad a shape as the eyes and hands. Also forgot how much detail goes into one. Like spending the morning resharpening chisels. Dan

These flies are stamped and have one side that is pretty flat and the other is more rounded. Flat side buried in the fly slot.

I lost one and made a replacement. That taught me how flies work.

Easy part. Tough to make ,especially with old eyes
