I've went to the dark side
« on: January 08, 2020, 07:21:32 AM »
I made a trigger guard master and sent it to Mike to get a brass cast trigger guard. I don't usually make brass mounted guns but thought I would see how the other side lives. They turned out pretty nice but I'm going to have a lot of filing to do on these. I made the master from wood and left it heavy so it would be less likely to break. Next time I'll forge a guard so it will be nice and thin. I'll get some photo's and post tomorrow. If you need something different contact Mike. He's been great to work with.

Brian, if you really want  to dabble and trek into the dark side I invite you to make a half stock percussion  rifle.

John, I have been contemplating a halfstock Leman rifle for several years now. Might get to it before I quit.

Here's the trigger guard I had Mike cast for me and the rifle I plan on making with it. Well not exactly but the rifle is the inspiration for the build.

That’s a nice trigger guard and a nice rifle to go with it.   I prefer filing brass over steel.
