GR Watkins rifle

A friend of mine just acquired this rifle signed on the top flat GR Watkins. There’s also a book written by someone of the same name called Patch Box Corners. Does anyone know some backstory or about any of his other work, if it is the same person even? Here are some pics and thanks for any info.

I recall there was a Gerald Watkins who had a monthly column entitled "Patchbox [or Patch Box ?] Corner" in Muzzle Blasts magazine back in the sixties.  I think he penned a few other articles for the same magazine now and then.  That's about all I know.

That is a nice rifle you have there, in any event.

Nice looking rifle.  I enjoy the snake that comes from the tail of his signature.   :-)

Nice rifle, however that bore is sure rusty, but doesn't look pitted yet. (could be further down)  It needs scotch-brite and WD40, or steel wool and WD40 scrubbing and soon.
