Jim, Tim & Metalshaper,
Thanks for the input. I guess Wade comes out on top this time. For a couple of trigger guards it's just not worth the time to rebuild that saw to slow it down.
I just hope that I can use the metal cutting blade that I ordered to cut wood. :o

combination of pulleys and a jack shaft.. you should be able to drop a 1750 rpm motor to 48-50 rpms at the saws wheels 'fairly" easily??
and if your saw is  14"  at the wheels...  and  I mathed right??   your blade would be going about 132 ft/min

Thanks Jonathan,
You're making that hacksaw look better than ever. ???

And Tim,
Thanks, I will use the blade for wood and try feeding it slow as you suggest.

I have cut wood with the horizontal and vertical metal cutting blades and the cut a scrap piece of steel
to clear the wood out of the finer teeth blades of the metal cutters.
