Restoring a smoothbore by J.Grindereng

Hi Guys! Have this laying around in shop ca 3year time to restore it ;) Its a smoothbore by the Norwegian gunsmith J.Grindereng
it have several missing like the horncap, front ramrodpipe etc.

Hey, Runar -

The variety of the projects that you take on simply amazes me.  You have a unique talent of restoring old things to beautiful usefulness.

Please show us more details of things like replacing the wood, and making a new horn muzzle cap.

Hi all, and thank you Craig Wilcox! The fronsight was broken, made a New one from brass.Soft solder to barrel.

Runar,
Thank you for posting good photos of your restoration work. I find them very helpful and useful when I need to recover from a mistake. For example, I chipped out a piece of wood on a brand new, very brittle, walnut blank I’m working on. The chips were very close to the same area you restored at the breach of this gun. Your example, and the examples of the many other fine builders here, are a great benefit to novice hobbyists like myself.

I really like your restorations .
I have a machine shop and will be doing this type of thing when I retire.
 
I built a few Guns  from scratch just shooters nothing too fancy , I mostly build them to "FIT ME"
Im 6'5" tall with arms like a orangutan,
 
Ive been shooting smooth bore lately and built mine, I've picked up 100 or more smoothbores/trade guns- and never found one that really Fit.

Hi all, and thank you guys!  Made a New mainspring, the patentbreech is perfekt and this USA made grease is perfekt for preserve both Wood and metal and best of all its not poisenous ;)
