Opinions on Caywood Southern mountain/ late English lock??
« on: February 08, 2020, 07:29:13 AM »
I saw this Caywood English lock for sale.
Do any of you folks have experience with these locks? How are they for quality compared with Chamber's, L&R, Davis??
It looks like a nice little lock from what I've seen.

I have 3 of the Wilson locks made by Caywood so those are the only ones I can comment on. All of mine are great fast smooth locks that spark great an I have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone. The only drawback I see to a Caywood lock is Danny Caywood is a 1 man operation an IF you were too need a part years down the road what then. I have that covered cause I have already bought extra parts but im just asking a what if question. Other than that I love em. The Wilson is lightning fast though so maybe the model your looking at is too
Nothing beats the feel of a handmade southern iron mounted flintlock on a cold frosty morning

If it works as good as it looks it should be a fine lock
Let's see the back of the plate because THAT is the
lock.
