This is probably the best Gobrecht rifle anyone of us will ever see. It is a very fine rifle by one of a family of makers in the York County area and these school traits are prominant on this gun. It appears to have been converted to percussion and the wood may have been rubbed with a heavy hand, but this is just a beautiful rifle and it should be placed in the library on the double.
Good on the owner for not reconverting it as it has a beautiful hand made hammer on a high quality Engish lock. Also, on further examination, the rifle seems to have had scant use and the clean appearance may be the result of that.
