A Couple Of Priming Horns
« on: February 14, 2020, 07:22:29 PM »
These Two are about 5 1/4 X 2 1/2 X 1". The one has an all Pewter tip, the other Pewter and Antler, pinned with Iron pins. Both have Brass covered wooden bases that are tapped 1/2 X 6, the plugs are Oak. The sun bursts are Pewter Finish on the hors is oil based Saddle Tan leather dye, followed by Brown Shoe polish. The Pewter and Brass has some cold Blue on it, rubbed back a bit and more shoe polish.
 They're ready for Knoxville.

Fantastic work Tim.  Both look just super.  Love the applied metal sun on each.  These are some of my favorite you have done.  Two thumbs up.  God Bless,  Marc

Thank you to all. They were a pair that have been sitting here for years. I had considered doing a double with. I 'm glad I didn't.

That is a really nice blending of different materials.

I had a couple of thoughts on material. At first I was going to use these Two tin suns that I made up but I did not like to way they looked with the horn color. I rubbed them back to a Gray and still didn't like it. Another option would have been to use tin to cover the base. Then there are the tips, make then from horn, antler, pewter or a combination of things. Even how to flatten the horn, natural curve or try and chance the direction, takes some thought.
