Dixon's, and my Bank
« on: July 27, 2009, 05:14:07 AM »
Got a call from my Bank Saturday evening, asking if it was me that was making ATM withdrawals in Allentown Pa.  I let them know that yes I had made a couple of withdrawals, and that I had given some of the monies to some gal by the name of Blackpowder Barbie, and had made donations to others with interesting names and wares.  Guess it was a good thing that the Bank was looking out for me.  What a ball I had on Friday, and Saturday, even though my wallet, and bank account are much lighter.

The worst seductress is the wood.  You can order a lock or barrel w/o seeing it, but once you see a nice blank, it starts working on you.

Yep, I walked away with two blanks and a Getz barrel and - well, a bunch of other stuff. But then I've been saving since last years CLA show. Tom

Bill, are you going next year? Maybe you could pick me up on the way!

I was planning to go this year, but my dear mom died on July 7th, and I have been busy with her estate ever since.

No calls from my bank, but on the way up there my wallet would barely shut from all the cash I'd been saving all summer and on the way home when I opened it all that was left was dust.  Didn't have enough left for a soda on the way home!  :)

You guys are making me feel better about how much I spent, I managed to keep enough money to pay for gas and dinner on the way home, but that was about all I had left.

I played it smart and filled up with gas just before I got there. Takes about a whole tank to get home. Now, no gas and no money.

I guess I did ok.  A Davis double set trigger for me, a nice brass Chambers Queen Anne pistol lock for my son and some odds and ends.  I have a Dunlop blank in my basement rafters, but no barrel for it yet.  I'm thinking a nice large bore shorter barrel for hunting.

Gotta get going on my .25 squirrel killer...warmer weather and a son who loves fishing have been taking their toll on my build time.   >:(

Same boat!  Picked up my Blank from Mike at Tiger Hunt, saved me on shipping.  Lock from Jim Chambers, trigger guard.  All ready had my barrel and hope to start building after I take a trip to the Berks County Historical Society to get a look at a Palm rifle if they have the one I'm interested in.  So it will be a fall/winter project.  Maybe enter it at Dixon's next year.  Need some measurements.  The pictures I have just won't do it.

Did anyone else check out Freddy Harrison's pile of wood.   Looks like guns will be going up in price also if you gp that route.   Real nice stuff, but................Don
