Antique lock - Thoughts please.
« on: February 19, 2020, 08:35:43 PM »
This little fellow showed up at my shop yesterday and needed a new home. Some of the internals are replacements, obviously the main spring. Probably the bridal. It’s undoubtedly hand engraved. Around 5 1/2 inches long and 1 inch tall. No fly. I’m planning on rehabing it for possible re-use. Any input as to its origin and age would be appreciated.

That's a neat one.  Tumbler is a fascinating-don't thing the engraver did that bit.

My first impression after viewing your lock could place its origins somewhere in the north of Italy (Brescia).

Somewhere, mid to late 18th century.

Beautiful lock with some interesting internal fixes!

Very cool lock Wayne. I’ve got nothing except it definitely needs to be in a rifle made with original parts.
