great find
« on: February 20, 2020, 05:30:56 AM »
I today picked up a late 70's early 80's cva 50 cal caplock originally sold by JCPenny as I was told by the man. his uncle gave it to him but he had no liking for it as he hunts with an inline. 28" Spanish hooked breach barrel double set triggers, stock needs a better finish and the barrel needs to be browned. This was a fantastic buy at $150.00, now to find a good browning solution.
 Hope it shoots well.

If the bore is good it will shoot. Dont be afraid to rework or refinish it. There is a ton of extra wood on those rifles. The first one I ever bought about 30 years ago was a 50 cal traditions. Stock knocked my cheek. Cut the comb down, pruned alot if wood off and refinished the stock and made it look better and a good shooter. Good luck.
