Spiral Water Buffalo Powder Horn
« on: February 23, 2020, 09:53:22 PM »
This smallish water buffalo horn came out of a bin of dog chewy toys at Tractor Supply.  It was sho nuff rough and still retains some of that roughness.  It is 8 ½ inches long with its largest circumference at 6 ¾ inches.  Rings are carved on the neck and four spirals go around the body of the horn.  Each spiral circles the horn two times.  The spirals continue onto the oak base plug.  Four wooden pegs and adhesive were used to attach the base plug to the body of the horn.  It is intended to be used during the course of a single day and carried in a pouch or pocket

That's a peach. I'll never walk past a bin chewy toys with the same indifference again....

Nice work, Lots of file work there. I've done them before and every time I do one I tell myself; I'm gonna keep this one" still don't have one. Well done, I especially like the shaping of the neck between the rings and the tip and the transition into the butt.

The mate to that horn is sitting in a tractor supply store somewhere.
