Another Mountain Rifle
« on: March 04, 2020, 03:46:41 AM »
I bought this one about 30 years ago, and sold it about 20 years ago.
And these are the only pictures of it i can find.
What reminded me of it, is that it has the same type of hammer finished barrel as the one Louie posted.

It has a longish barrel, say 47" / 48" long, and is a pretty hefty rifle, and was original flint. The carving bit on the cheek piece I thought was done by an owner and not the maker.
So does anyone have any idea as to who made it, or where it might of been made? Another thought is that maybe one of you guys has seen it, or maybe owns it now?

John, the triggerguard, and the keyhole side plate, on this rifle are quite distinctive. I am surprised that the very knowledgeable SMR collectors, and builders, on this sight, haven’t tracked down the gunsmith that produced it.

HH, I was hoping someone might have an idea as to maker, but maybe not.
I thought it had some pretty distinctive attributes as well.

This rifle has very nice lines. I'm surprised some of the southern boy's haven't thrown in some guesses.
