Hi Folks,

I decided to do a belt bag this time around.  All bridle leather inside-out bag, lined in heavy weathered tan canvas (thanks Bob!).  Very rugged.  Buckskin rolled edge at the top.  Heavy cowhide stiffener inside the top back for strength and shape.  Small pocket on the front for measures and such.  Waxed linen stitching.  About 7.5" h x 6.5" w. Will take up to a 2.5" belt. 

An absolute BEAR to turn inside-out.  The worst ever.  The small size combined with the lining, pocket, and stiffener made this one no fun to turn. 

Hmmm.....in looking at the photos, this bag looks a bit like an owl.  Oh well, glad I like owls.

Beautiful stitching.  I love the scalloped flap hinge.   It's so precise and balanced.  Wow!   Mr. Rogers or Marc, sirs, a question:  Does one soak a deer hide bag in water before turning?

Marc, I like your “owl bag” 🦉very much. It a very distinctive design, and the contrasting stitching really compliments that beautiful bridle leather.

Apparently not wet enough James. 🙂 This one was a fighter.

Crow Boy, the buckskin I have used is rubbery stretchy. I think one of those could be flipped with no water or issues.  I may be wrong though.

Funny you terming the task as a "bear" because some of those can make you feel like you are wrestling one
 
Next time, for those types throw it in a bucket and wait for all the little bubbles to disappear then give it a wrestle. I know you like to break your leather and the soaking will get it stiff again after drying but if broken prior it will supple up on it's own.

I do believe "belt bags" are under made and under appreciated. If going out for a day hunt a belt bag is just as easy to work from and I believe less cumbersome than a shoulder bag. I have a nice one I won't post after seeing this one 'cuz it makes mine look like the perverberal poor cousin!
