Accoutrements...just for Randy
« on: July 31, 2009, 01:12:12 AM »
Randy made the statement that if everyone showed their accoutrements that this forum would probably be as busy as the gunbuilding one.  Not everyone makes dandy stuff to enter in Dixon's or to purloin scheckels from their customers.

Some stuff is made to be used and is simple and utilitarian.  I make my stuff as I need it for the purpose I need it for.  I've used it hard and don't care if it gets wet or scratched and I haven't had to make anything new for at least 15 years as all this stuff still works.

Randy has already seen all this stuff cause it's what I used when I lived up his way.  However, it might encourage some of the rest of you to post your homespun stuff.  There were no "schools" on the frontier.  Things were made how the maker thought it should be made and from what he had available when he made it.

Sorry,
But some of us don't have a good camera. I can only afford the throw away type and they take terrible pictures.

Best to start your own topic when posting your items.  That way discussions don't get all garbled and run together.

Dave,

You know that some of the stuff I actually carry looks crude and primitive and has been used heavy for 25 plus years, but it fits who I am when out on the ground..  Not a thing wrong with your accoutrements as they represent the persona you have chosen.. I especially like the twined bags you have made.

No apology required.  My posting was just to get the ball rolling so that others could start their own threads about their stuff.  Hijacking of threads occurs too often on the board and the original content gets lost as the discussion goes off on tangents.

Repost your stuff again as a new topic.  I liked the nice polish you got on those pieces of elk antler.  Almost looked like ivory.
