Finished German Game Bag - Buttons

I’m adding a flap strap and switching the buttons to leather ones. Other than that,  here she is.

Mike, outstanding work.

I am absolutely digging that buckle. I've got to find out where you guys are sourcing those. They add just the right finishing touch to a bag. I've even considered getting some brass plate and trying my hand at fashioning my own. But I would much prefer to leave it to someone with actual talent.

Mike, Brother you have simply knocked it out of the ballpark.  Absolutely incredible attention to detail...it looks just like the ones I used to lust over at the German gun stores when I was stationed there in the mid 80’s. Fantastic job!

Thanks Greg.  Being able to handle yours in Boonesborough and the tips you gave me helped out a lot.  It’s a long way from perfect.  I’m not that familiar with all the historically correct parts.  All I had was the interview of experts from Mr. Ewings website, T.C. Alberts book and gamebag, lots of pictures and yours to go off of.   I think the brass should have been covered with leather but I really liked the look of the brass.

There is a ton of work in that bag, and you really pulled it off. A fine job sir. You’ve come a long way in a short time.  Two thumbs up. God bless, Marc

Very nice work, I like it all. Why switch the buttons?

Thanks Tim, Marc and everyone else.  From what I understand, one of the HC items on these bags were leather covered parts and leather buttons.  Some of them had leather covered buckles.  I'm not going that far.   :o

I added the leather flap button but didn’t switch the metal ones.  That antique brass grows on you.

The brass looks good and matches your buckles and rings.  Good choice.

Thanks Stoner.  I get side tracked often.  This bag was a lot more work and took a lot more time than I expected. Hopefully I can grab a file and start some tang work tomorrow.  My nose is in the books every night trying to burn this Fowler in my brain.  Hope you’re all staying healthy down your way.
