Trigger guard help
« on: August 01, 2009, 01:16:55 AM »
Could anyone post a picture of a gun using the trigger guard pictured below? I'm having a heck of a time getting it bent to fit my stock, the tang behind the trigger bow seems to be in the way, too high.  It's in the TOW catalog as TG-VA-I. The number in the picture is MBS's part number.

Thanks,
Bill

Hey Bill,
Do you mean the tabs or the reverse part of the bow?  The tabs are casting sprues and should be removed.  If it's the hook part, remove the sprue, then it can be bent out of the way.

Eric,  I know the sprues and gates come off.  It's the hook part, if I bend it back out of the way or remove it, it takes a lot away from the looks of the guard. If I bend the hook more forward, it takes away travel room for the back trigger.  It just seems there should be a better way,  ???

Bill Could it be ...opening up the main bow then bringing back the curl may help. I'm not sure if I'm explaining myself correctly.
But what I see  you need numerous small bends to get to where you need to be with this guard,
Why not post a stock profile with the guard near it That may help us

Hehe, Just making sure about the sprues  ::).  If it's going to be in the way, I'd file it down an eighth of an inch to clear the stock.  I see how it can be in the way of a smooth stock profile.  Can you bend the grip rail down and the bow away from the stock?

This guard looks like it was designed for a step wrist...if you take a straight line along the rear extension it interferes with the extreme dip of the grip rail. It's going to take some serious bending to make it fit right...but it can be done.
Jim's right..a photo of your stock profile with the guard under it will be helpful.

I have used that guard and it does take a bit of bending. I think I opened the bow and then brought everything back down to fit. Heat was required to get it right. I was able to get  Davis #4 triggers in it.
Sorry I don't have any pictures.

John, could you post another picture from a little further away, including the bvuttstock, and one from the bottom. It looks like a really nice gun.
Thanks,
Bill
