Quarantine Boredom-Stock Shopping
« on: April 07, 2020, 08:38:12 PM »
Hi all,

Being stuck in quarantine, debating starting another rifle project.

Have a lock, triggers, and some other furniture. Was looking at stocks and best providers.

Any thoughts on the quality of Knob Mountain stocks and wood?

Like a stock with fine curl!

I’m sure Dave Keck will give you a fair deal on wood and machine work. BJH

I have used Dave Keck several times and have NOT been disappointed, and if you want a pre shaped stock he has several styles.

Give Mark Weader a call. He does an excellent job. He also has a good selection of wood, you will need to get your barrel to him as he makes a pattern of YOUR barrel then inlets that pattern in the wood. 717-543-5370, he will also inlet your lock.

One of the members on here, Looper has a selection of wood and barrels. You may want to check with him. I’ve gotten a couple of blanks and barrels from him and am pleased.

I’ve used both Dave Keck and Cheney Looper, with complete satisfaction from both gentlemen. I don’t think you’ll go wrong with either.

And tfornicola can also provide excellent stock wood for the project.

+1 for Tom Fornicola. Really nice wood selection, clean planed sides. I have seen some wood that is cut to get the most blanks from a plank. Tom cuts his to provide the best blank from the plank.

A. Martin has been pedaling some nice wood. Give him a call. Also the guy selling Harrison'r wood has anything you could imagine.
