A Little Banded Horn

Apparently I have been busy. Here is another new horn, I believe the first one I have made with four bands. This little horn (Horn #47) is a traditional left hand horn, but can be carried either way. It is about 12″ around the outside curve and 10″ tip to tip. The walnut base plug is 2.03″ in diameter and hollowed out about 3/4 of it’s length. The applied-tip is Axis deer antler. The stopper is walnut. I just added a little color with ferric nitrate and applied some Tried and True oil.

Gorgeous horn, Mark! The proportions and “flow” of the architecture is very pleasing. I love it!

Now see, I would call that a Right side carry. Butt wrapping towards the back with the tip up against the front. In any case Nice work Mark, look great.

Very fine piece of work! I like the color of the horn. Axis antler is as about as good as it gets for turning. Great horn.
