Inletting patchbox hinge question.

My previous rifles have been sliding wood covers so inletting the hinge on a brass patch box is new experience.  The ends of the hinge are not right yet so the question is how do you finish the ends so they blend into the wood better.  Is filing an angle on them appropriate or is there another method ?

    Usually the top ends of the hinge roll are given a whack with a hammer to slightly flatten them.  This keeps hinge pins in place and the hinge roll is angled into the stock surface.  Final sanding and finishing helps everything to blend smoothly into the stock surface.

Okay I whacked her with a hammer and then a little filing to enhance the result.  Looks a lot better.
