Installing a sling swivel on an under rib

So, I'd like to put a sling swivel on the under rib of a half stock, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to go about doing that. Right now my thought is to file a half round groove on the bottom of the rib, and a similar groove on the barrel where the rib will be, then line them up, solder on the rib, and clean up the hole and run the bolt through it.  There's not a lot of metal on the rib to fit even a small bolt through it.
Ideas, suggestions? Thanks.

I am not sure, sorry. It was in my screw box, and fits the threads of the sling swivel I have.

It will take some careful drilling, but it should work.  An end Mill might be best.

The pics shown are of the sling attachment to the rib of my Hawken. A radiused groove was filed on the underside of the rib, a length of coat hanger was formed to attach a leather sling to the rifle. The  shape of the coat hanger is like a modified  "Y" ….small by the  rib and larger for the sling. The hi temp silver soldered joint is hidden by the sling. The groove locates the  sling over the RR pipe so it doesn't interfere when putting the RR back....Fred
