Jolly Jokers eh?
If things go along the way they should all these patches will be disappeared. I have all the patches in now....16 or 18 of them. This gun has super hard wood, otherwise I would have just pitched it. The patches come from a cut off of the stock blank. Having absolutely no curl this patch job is relatively easy to do since you don't have to line up the curls. There will be carving at the barrel tang which will hide the patches there and a sideplate will cover alot of what's on the side. You'll notice that all the glue lines are dark. Once the gun is stained those glue lines will disappear. You newbs should take notes....I have done alot of this in the past with great success. Just for historical reference, The KRA disc "Wes White photo Collection" Shows a gun in there with about a billion square patches in it....Bucks or Berks county gun I think...can't recall.
Some time ago I got a "deal" on stocks. Ended up 6 stocks for $300 shipped that would all "supposedly" make into guns. I have used two of them now, the first had some splits and checks I had to fix and of course this one has worms and was fixed with 5 hours of labor or in other words I have about $225 wrapped up in a plain maple stock.
. If a deal is to good to pass up you should always pass it up!
