Cowan's May 6 auction has three longrifles and a British Board of Ordnance Indian flintlock rifle. Also, a Springfield Armory Model 1807 Indian Carbine.

It also has one of those new fangled rifles that may have been used in the 1877 Creedmoor match by an American.   I have a ML that was used in the 1877 Creedmoor match by an Irishman.   My wife feels strongly that I should not own two.  One from my Irish heritage and one from my American heritage.

Perhaps Molly could talk to her?

My wife is a very loving person that tolerates quite a bit from me.  She is thinking a new 4 seasons room added on to the house has priority.

I did recently pick up a Harpers Weekly from 1877 that has drawings of the American and English teams, the range, and a nice article.

Being of an Irish clan both I and my husband might tend to agree with your wife.  You need to sell that Irish rifle to....maybe me :)

Molly, I dont think it would fit into your collection.  It would be like a red-headed stepchild.
