Large powder horn with whittled butt plug
« on: April 30, 2020, 05:18:43 PM »
This one is 18” along the outer curve and the whittled (not turned) butt plug is 3 and 3/16” in diameter.  Nails and a staple have been replaced. It is very thin and light.

I think I posted it before. I am going to use it occasionally but need to seal it up first.

Great old horn. I especially love the initials. I believe
Nathan Boone told Draper the old long hunters
Knew each other’s horns on sight that way,
And The skeleton of Daniels brother in law
John Stewart was Identified by the initials carved
into the horn Found with him.
