Bag #30 - Broken-in plain bag
« on: May 02, 2020, 06:27:11 PM »
Hi Folks,

I decided to go for a "broken-in" look on this plain, flat-sewn bag.  I tried for a really basic bag, but added flush welts, a stiffener, and a buckle (versus button strap adjustment).  Cowhide tooling leather.  Bridle leather straps.  Iron buckle. Plain copper button.  7-1/2" square.

I tend towards liking dressier bags, but I know many gravitate towards bags the average person would have carried....hence this bag.  I am thinking it would accompany a common gun or Appalachian rifle.

God Bless,   Marc

I like this one a lot Marc!

Love the "simple" things in life.

The color is great, and is the button hand made?

Thanks for sharing.

Regards,

Doug

Many thanks.

Doug, a really good friend made that for me, but I don't think he'd be interested in making those for sale as he's busy with horn and rifle making.

God Bless,   Marc

That should suit a commoner and his gun just fine. Good job !

Very nice Marc.  The way the bottom folds, I bet it makes for a very durable bag.  If I’m not mistaken,  someone brought an original bag to Boonesborough a couple years ago that was made very similar.

Marc, I don’t know how I missed this one, but it’s another dandy!  I like that basic design, it’s simple, but can be done so many ways, it never gets old. Nice work, my friend!
