A wonky Lehigh/Buckish schimmel ..
« on: April 27, 2020, 08:50:45 PM »
Since I got into posting pictures the other day of the Early Newcomer Lancaster Schimmel thats about to go onto the mail truck to TN..
I decided to post a few pictures of a schimmel that I wasn't sure about when I first received the order to build it .
Very PA dutch ....

I started with a 48" plus long barrel of my design , 55caliber (28ga) smoothbore , Oct-fading to round ..  .. Had Bob Hoyt make it for me .. I believe Jason at Rice will be producing this profile before very long .
Then I used a Larry Zorn lock and the rest is pretty much banged out by hand .. A wrought iron guard an 2 pipes ... The block of Sugar maple comes from my front yard that was removed a few years ago ...
After getting it all together and finalized , this turned into a sweet under 6 lbs of delightfulness to carry and shoot ... feels great !!
It's not for sale , built it for a local client ..

Enjoy ..
Allen

Looks great. Nothing fancy there but the architecture says all that needs to be said. Do you have a shot of the trigger guard?

I am normally not a fan of Schimmel's or Poor Boys.  But I love this one!!!  That is a work of beauty.  Super.  I like simple but the basic parts need to be there like a butt plate entry pipe and sometimes a nose cap but I may be changing my mind.  You are a master and thanks for posting.  Have to say it again.....Love it.

Greetings Allen,

That's a very nice looking smoothbore you built there.  I can't quite tell from the photos - are the ramrod pipes also iron or another material?

Thanks for posting the pics,
Kevin

Wow, I guess it's not just you Allen who is blessed, but your yard and trees too! That is a sweet smoothie.

That wrist, comb, butt transition by itself is a nice piece of work. Beautiful work all over as far as that goes.

Very nice...I love the lines on your Lehighs, Allen. I’ve been fortunate to shoot a couple of your Lehigh rifles, and they don’t bite.

Nice little smoothie Allen.
Makes quite statement for such a plain piece.
