Davis lock in an England/Brown Sporting rifle
« on: May 10, 2020, 09:15:00 PM »
I building from a kit that may be an older Brown or England model. I have the barrel/tang in place and the butt plate. I  am picking up pieces of information that indicate that a Davis lock is not a direct or easy fit. Since a Davis lock was included, can anyone enlighten me with the factors in fitting this lock. I have not begun this fit as of to date. Thanks for the help.  Keith

Don Brown did use the DAVIS lock almost exclusively and used mine only if the
customer insisted or threatened to cancel the order.IF the lock is part of a kit I
would think it would be easy to see if the lock is useable. Some careful filing may
be required to fit the plate. These guns look simple and easy but they are not so
be careful.

The Davis lock will fit but is dependent on several factors.  Is your stock already cut for the DB lock or is the panel untouched?  Your reply will dictate a course of action.  Also, what drip bar is on your barrel?
