New Old Horn

(1/1)

jcmcclure:
I'm excited about this new forum section and thought it would be a good place to show my new old horn. This one is a big one. It was priced fair and I love the color and twist.

Notchy Bob:
How big is it?  I don't see any provision for a carry strap or cord in the base.  If it's a really big horn, it may be for powder storage rather than carry.

In any event, it's a beauty!  That twist gives a lot of character.

Best regards,

Notchy Bob

Looks like a staple in the plug pulled out. Pretty common. I love old working horns like this one.

It actually had two Staples that broke off in the plug. At some point, after the plugs broke, two holes were drilled though the plug and out base of the pug where it meets the horn. I believe this was done to tie on a strap.

In any event, it's a beauty!  That twist gives a lot of character.
