Copper Powder Flask
« on: May 22, 2020, 04:56:21 PM »
Recently acquired this powder flask. Appears to be made of sheet copper. The lid serves as the measure. Has anyone seen one like it?

Looks like a homemade flask made by a wiley old moonshiner. Has the look of an old Still. Very cool.

Thanks for the replies guys! I thought it was homemade when I bought it. Came out of Virginia.

What a great find!  How much powder does the measure dispense?

That is a really interesting piece of work. Thanks for sharing. I'm not sure I'd categorize it as a "powder flask" without some evidence of it's being used in that capacity.

Is there any owner of a .32 "poorboy" who wouldn't want this hanging by their side? Love it I also think it is home made but seriously cool! Thanks for sharing this.

That is a very nice piece. I really like that it came out of VA.

Please explain how the strap attaches. Does one end attach to the soldered ring on the body, and the other directly to the cap/ measure? or is there another strap for the cap?

Nordnecker,
The shoulder strap attaches to the soldered loops. There is a separate strap sewn to the shoulder strap that attaches to the stopper/measure.
