Very plain bag

Was playing around with this. This is as simple as a bag can get. Single pocket stitched with hemp, cowhide.

CJ, that's really neat. I like it!

What kind of hemp thread did you use?

It is just hemp twine that craft stores sell.  I waxed it with bees wax, its a little thicker than the linen thread I used so I punch a slightly larger hole.  I am sorry I do not know a name brand to tell you.

No, that's fine. I was just curious if you used actual thread or the hemp twine. I've used it before myself... Even when waxed it's "hairy" and has some slubs but it works fine.

Several vendors online also sell a nice polished hemp cord for very reasonable prices... it's very evenly wound and smooth. And you can get it in about any color imaginable. I bought some for weaving but it would work just as well for sewing... Just wax it up and sew.

Pretty cool, functional was the need, I doubt fashion statements were what average guy carried.

You are right about the bumps. I do inspect it as I roll it out and sometimes cant use sections.
