How The First Oops Horn Turned Out

 The first Pic is where it started, I saw a couple Pix on "The Blog" of one of Art's horns added a couple more ideas and here we are. The horn, butt, body and tip are right at 14" around the outside curve and 11 1/2 tip-to-tip. The two part butt is Maple threaded 1//2 X 6, it is attached to the horn with 18 Iron nails. The repair is Tin held on by two Iron pins and the strap staple. The tip just didn't look right so I added a Brass thimble, held on by Three more pins. Finish is some Brown dye and Brown Shoe polish.

I like the repair I think it adds a lot to looks of it the horn. Great idea!

I really didn't think you would end up with something decent from that horn, but what you came up with is super creative and so well executed!   I think I have learned a valuable lesson here to not give up so easily.

I am with Greg. Very inventive and fascinating horn. Rather than discuss the ooops, just discuss the final product. Cool “sawtooth butt engrailling”, very neat screw off base, and distinctive looking tip. Nice color too. Well done.

I really am impressed with the treatment on the butt on this horn Tim. May have to give something similar a try. Inventive.

 Thanks to all for the positive comments.

 If/when I do another I will turn rings on the part of the plug that goes into the "Teeth" like the others.

 Missed this; there is a dam of glue mixed with sawdust around the run out. It is air tight.
