I hadn't shot the other postal shoots, because I was using all my shooting time to play with my pistols.
Yesterday was one of the few days we have had with winds below 20 mph.
Long story short. Was all out of OE3f. Had to use Goex 3f. 1st target showed me shooting about a squirrel head low, when aiming at the eye. Also abut 1/4 squirrel head to the right. So I shot the next two targets aiming abut 3/4 inch high even with the squirrels nose.
I don't like covering up my target. This is my 3rd target, group is about same as second target but this one scores 5 points higher at 20.
These are not excuses Daryl, just an example of !$@! poor shooting.

Smart shooting at the branch. I told myself that's what I was going to do but ended up shooting for the head. You can see how that worked out!

Daryl and I shot our June target again this morning.  Today's the first pleasant day we've had for what seems like ages.  So here's my second posting though there are two targets, both scoring the same, ie:  20/50.  With half of the month left yet, I intend to give it another go with my Voluptuous Virginia.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
score +5

It'll be the 14 bore, next time. The only ML I've got that has killed a squirrel.

Just a heads-up my friends...we're running out of June!  Many of you have only submitted one target.  Give it a second and third effort and post your targets.  I did a little simple engraving on the knapping hammers/turn screws this morning.. besides fame and glory, I'm offering these three as prizes.

Well here are mine.  Shot them today.  Tough one to see and shoot.  First one looks like a zero or maybe 5 as I think I got the end of his nose.

This one maybe an zero or maybe 8 as I nicked the log.

This one I am not sure but looks to be 15 or a 23.  Will leave it up to the judge as I forgot how the scoring works and do not want to go back and look as I did that once and lost my post.  No computer wiz kid here.

Just for a test, I shot one really fast, off a rest - well obviously it's not the gun -  ;D ;D

As you can see, Daryl and I shot our last target today.  I used my Chambers' Mark Silver design Virginia rifle in .50 cal.  I tell ya, that 10 pounds isn't getting any easier to hold up.  I have to let down several times, sometimes many times for each shot, but in the end I got a target to submit.  I thought at first I'd got only two tens, but I laid the target over a fresh one, and that third ball is half in the eye ball, for a score of 35/50.  But it's those flyers that drop the bottom out of a nice target, isn't it?
It doesn't matter much anyway, as I've decided to eliminate myself from the competition, as I am the official judge, jury, etc. and I'm providing the awards.  I have one of these knapping tools in every bag I carry, and I have a separate bag and horn for every rifle I shoot.  It is my sincere hope that someone will post a score better than 35/50.
As I was shooting my target, it occurred to me that the head of that squirrel isn't any smaller than a charcoal briquette which is not a difficult target at 25 yards.  But that white eye ball diminishes the sharpness of the target and the printing around it also takes away from it, especially when the barrel heats up and the target starts to dance around in the whoosey sights.

Keep those targets coming in lads, and many thanks to all those who have already submitted theirs.

As a clarification of the 'rules', let me advise that I am scoring by the half ball...so half of the hole has to be in the higher score to get full points.

Also, I never said you have to submit the first three targets you shoot...have fun with this and submit your best work - I did.  If any of you just turned in the first three targets you shot, pls. feel free to submit one or two more targets to improve your score.  Dave Marsh, your first submission is an example.  You can also just let your targets stand and take your chances.  You have about a week and a half left before this shoot is over.

That's what I did T. I shot three on my video and kept the best, bad as it was. I'll get back out before the month is up and whack at it some more. I need some more shots through the Soddy anyway.....Thanks for clarifying the ruleses.

Taylor, did not realize that.  Thanks for the rule clarification.  I guess I am so used to other forum shoots with no do overs etc.. that I did not even think this was different.  Mine will have to stand this time as I will not be able to get back to the range.  Thanks.

Very relaxed rules. I've been in postal shoots that only allow one target to be shot. One target was sent to you that was marked and numbered. It's the only target we could send back.

The NMRA used to have monthly postal shoots. I wish they bring them back.
