As you can see, Daryl and I shot our last target today. I used my Chambers' Mark Silver design Virginia rifle in .50 cal. I tell ya, that 10 pounds isn't getting any easier to hold up. I have to let down several times, sometimes many times for each shot, but in the end I got a target to submit. I thought at first I'd got only two tens, but I laid the target over a fresh one, and that third ball is half in the eye ball, for a score of 35/50. But it's those flyers that drop the bottom out of a nice target, isn't it?
It doesn't matter much anyway, as I've decided to eliminate myself from the competition, as I am the official judge, jury, etc. and I'm providing the awards. I have one of these knapping tools in every bag I carry, and I have a separate bag and horn for every rifle I shoot. It is my sincere hope that someone will post a score better than 35/50.
As I was shooting my target, it occurred to me that the head of that squirrel isn't any smaller than a charcoal briquette which is not a difficult target at 25 yards. But that white eye ball diminishes the sharpness of the target and the printing around it also takes away from it, especially when the barrel heats up and the target starts to dance around in the whoosey sights.
Keep those targets coming in lads, and many thanks to all those who have already submitted theirs.
