Pete:  thanks for your info regarding this type of competition.  My concept was more of an opportunity to do some shooting, and give the shooter an opportunity to re-enter, a concept we here in Prince George call a "Roger Fisher".  I am more interested in our fellows having a fun day at the range.  There's no Lexis being awarded here, so why not give it your best effort, even if it takes a couple of dry runs.  For me at least, it is a fact that I do not do enough of this type of shooting.  The gongs on our trail have pretty significant X rings, and are not conducive to fine accuracy.

Nothing wrong with it at all. As soon as I get all my stuff together i'll be joining in. Your way we get to shoot more and that's always a good thing.

It would get ugly is we shot for a Lexus. Better to have a fun shoot. Besides, i'd have to sell it and buy a new Jeep.  :)

Here is my 1st attempt. A fun little target! I believe this scores as a 20 but subject to judge's final call.

Fuzzy front sight + fuzzy rear sight = Proximity aiming. Just have to trust foundational basics developed over 40 years and focus as best one can on that FRONT sight.

Our range from the porch of the Line Shack.

Thanks Pete. But, that front sight truly melts away in the rear notch. I am thankful for Kibler's excellent stock design and balance of my Colonial .54. Per another thread on here, I wouldn't mind if it was closer to 13" LOP. It has an excellent single trigger though and the lock is super fast, but I get impatient sometimes and try to "help" it along to break. Especially after I have unmounted 2 or 3 times. :o

Very relaxed rules. I've been in postal shoots that only allow one target to be shot. One target was sent to you that was marked and numbered. It's the only target we could send back.

The NMRA used to have monthly postal shoots. I wish they bring them back.

I think they still put them on.  Contact this fellow Estillator19@gmail.com.  also,  the Colorado State Muzzle Loaders Association has a monthly target that accumulates scores for an end of year prize distribution.  Usually powder.

I managed to get out and shoot a couple of targets today. Our heat wave with terrible humidity finally broke, but the mosquitos were out in hoards. !st target was in shorts !!!  I had to go and change to long pants in order to hold a bit steadier  ;D
Rifle is .40 cal   42 in Colerain A weight swamped  Chambers Siler lock with reworked Davis set triggers
Load was .395 ball with 30 gr FFFg and a linen spit patch

!st target is a " 0 "   2nd looks like a 15 to me.  Too bad about that minus 10 !!!   I was shooting for where I thought the eye was, since the target was rather obscure due to my copy machine running low on ink.  Nice group but still no cigar  :)

Good looking #2 target Bob. Perhaps a bigger squirrel or gun would have helped!

It seems to me if someone could put 5 shots in the bark you'd be the winner. A lot easier than trying to hit the eye.

Counting today, there are only 6 days left to shoot and submit your targets lads.  Thanks to all those (12) who have already done so.  Some really nice shooting.

Are targets to be mailed in or just post a picture here on the thread?

I guess I won't be shooting. No printer and no use for a camera. I'm not one to take pictures of anything.

Pete, it's too late for this match, but next month I would happily send you a target via mail and you could mail it to anyone you like close to you for posting.

Gonna try this tomorrow. Got just enough printer ink for 3-4 targets looks like. Hopefully 4 so I can have a warm up target.
