Chronographed the 46 inch barreled 45 caliber SMR
« on: September 04, 2020, 01:15:47 AM »
For what it is worth I shot 5 across the chronograph last week with my Kibler 45 caliber SMR with 46 inch barrel.  I used 65 grains of Goex 3fg a .018 ticking patch lubed with LHV and a .440 Speer ball.

The 5 shots averaged 1795 fps

That correlates to what I've found in mine with the same load but with .022 patching. I used Swiss and was pushing 2000fps. That's just enough to set off Tannerite, which is nice.

55 gr Old Eynsford .445rb .020 patch, wet lube, Colerain round groove barrel, 1800fps. Was hoping a lighter charge would shoot better for trail work.
70 gr Old Eynsford .435rb .015 patch , mink oil 1980fps. Anything lighter wont shoot and 80gr load blows patches. Was using 75gr Goex with this load and getting 1950fps. Old Eynsford seems to require 5-10% less powder than the Goex I was using.
