Anyone Recognize this work?
« on: June 14, 2020, 01:54:46 AM »
I picked up this rifle at a gun show here in Montana this winter and it’s extremely nicely done but I can not find any identifiable markings on who the builder was. It’s .62 cal swamped Colerain barrel, Chambers English round-faced lock and Chambers white lightning liner. Just thought maybe one of you guys might recognize some particulars of a builder. Only mark on it is inside the lock and it’s either a number 1 or letter I. Thanks for any help

Yup it is unsigned, hard to believe someone would build a rifle this nice and not sign it.

Did you look at the underside of the barrel? My guns are not noteworthy but I put my name, where they were made and the date on the bottom flat of the barrel at the breech.

Ya I pulled the barrel to see if I could find a signature or a stamp of some sort. I couldn’t find anything that stood out. Even the ramrod has a threaded end and in the patch box there is a piece of horn to make a T handle to thread into the ramrod, it was well thought out

wattlebuster, i completely agree!  when I saw it at the gun show I knew I wasn't leaving there without it.  I think it will make a good meat stick for elk!
