Charles Stuart of Binghamton, NY target rifle

A recent trade allowed me the chance to acquire this New York target rifle made by Charles Stuart of Binghamton, NY. It has certainly had some work done over the years, the stock has had a large crack repaired at the wrist, the nipple is new, and the brass has certainly been cleaned. The peep sight appears to be original and has the same wear pattern as the rest of the rifle. That said, it seems extremely impractical and I cannot pick up the front using it at all. I wonder if the ladder sight was added later? Maybe someone can offer some input on proper technique for using the tangent sight.

Bore is certainly usable after two hours worth of cleaning and measures .384 on the lands and .392 on the grooves. Pretty neat to have this piece of shootable local history.
