Don’t get too close to Daryl with those guns. I hear he’s got a mean grip.

Good looking guns , but a boy from the UK, jealous no, why because it would have to be original for me , no offence

That’s some nice work.
Can I ask how the engraving was done?  It has a different look to it.

Thanks for the positive comments.  It has been a satisfying transition moving to muzzleloader building but challenging nonetheless.  First wood carving and first flat topped checkering were the big ones.  I don't know the origin of the percussion wood but it came to me as a very large thin shell walnut blank.  It was just over 5" thick and 10" deep.  Chainsaw might have been a more appropriate tool for initial shaping.  The barrel key was also a first.  In the end I burned it in.  Came out ok but need to get through a few more before I have any comfort level with the process.

Rich-never fear, I am holding them very tightly.

Both of those rifles are just superb ;D ;). Love what you have done on the percussion rifle!

Jeff-The engraving was done by FEGA engraver Jim White of Wasilla here in Alaska.  Engraving is an art form I've never attempted and Jim has been doing my guns for many years.  I gave him some photos of antique gun that I liked and what you see is the outcome.  The brass engraving too, is clean and simple.  The combination of the austere engraving and David Rase's case colors nicely complement the rifle.

Thanks Dennis,

I was actually wondering also who had done the color case hardening.  :D

Huge fan of the percussion gun here.  Checkering looks crisp.  Thanks for sharing.
