Thanks for the compliments guys. That elk gave me a nice piece of leather and many good meals. For the longest time I couldn't bring myself to cut into it. Finally made myself some leggings and now this bag. Still got a lot left. Elk are big critters.
The body of the bag is 8" deep and a little over 7" wide. No gusset, the sawtooth edging serves as a welt. The flap, where it folds is a little over 9" wide, so it overhangs the opening. The inside pocket is 6" wide x 3" deep. Strap is about 48" long. Horn is attached on 11" wangs.
The body of the horn is 12" around the outside curve and the screw tip adds another 3". The base is cherry, about 2-1/2" diameter, sealed with beeswax. Spout plug is walnut. I did all the turnings on my 1929 Sypher lathe.
