That's a very pretty little rifle!  less than 5 pounds...I didn't know it was possible.

Oops.  Taylor, you’re right.  That should be 5.8 lbs.

The stain consisted of a base coat of Orange, Spirit stain, by Chestnut products.  (A product of the UK.  My son got it somewhere to use on guitar we made.)
Followed by several coats of diluted LMF Walnut stain
And finished with Waterlox.

Very nice what did you use for the barrel treatment?

All the metal was done with Homer Dangler’s browning solution.
It was applied in multiple coats but with NO carding between coats.  All the parts but the barrel were left in sweat box.  Once there was a good coat of rust growing on the surface after approx 8 to 10 coats the rust was worked back with scotch brute pads, fiber abrasive wheels in a Dremel tool, and lastly with a super fine wire wheel from Brownells mounted in the drill press.

Wayne,
I’m looking forward to shooting it, but just had first cataract removed Mon.  Will have the other done in a couple weeks.  Maybe we could get together at your place with Ky flinter for a shooting day after that.

Jeff, is that the one I saw at Boonesborough in January?  It’s as pretty as a speckled pup!  I’ve avoided cherry so far, but I might have to give it a try.

Greg,
That’s the same one from Boonesborough.  This is only the second cherry stock I’ve ever done and I have to say I’m quite happy with how it turned out.

Very nice crisp work. I really like your metal finish, It's a technique quit similar to what I use, very labor intensive at the end but the finished product is well worth it..

Here’s an additional picture of overall length.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments.

Mike, you’re right about being labor intensive at the end,  just when I’m getting anxious to be done.
Those fiber abrasive wheels for the dremel really helped though.  Have you tried those?
