Light at the end of the tunnel (updated)
« on: July 16, 2020, 03:59:48 AM »
I'm really close to getting these two pistols finished up. The pistol grips are a real pain to checker. With the lines having to go around two curves I just couldn't keep everything looking right. I now know why Elisha checkered the original the way he did. I think it looks good on a pistol but I don't enjoy applying it to one.

Looking great Brian.
I typically feel like I’ll never finish whatever single gun I’m working on.  I don’t see any “pairs” in my future.   ;)

Oh yes.  Delightful separate or as a pair.  Beautiful work.  Someone is going to be very happy.  They make me want to go shoot them.  God Bless,   Marc

Thanks everyone. I took them with me to see Stonercreek today and he approved of them. There were some things I wasn't completely happy with like the checkering. However I rarely do any and it's hard to be good at something like checkering if you don't practice a bunch or do it on a weekly basis. I would do the keys a bit different the next time also.

Approved. I only wish that I had the patience and skills to pull off such a task! Wonderful piece of craftsmanship Brian. I’m anxious to see what comes out of your shop next.....

Great looking pistols!  Love the finish on both the wood and the metal but the guard is my favorite.

Outstanding work.I get tired when I think about making the locks and checkering
a flat surface is more than I can do and a curved one to me is off the chart.
Thank you for showing these.

Brian, those are looking great. I’ve made exactly zero progress on my (single) pistol project...been interrupted by getting a house rehabbed, and moved into...still in progress. Hard to believe how much stuff we’ve accumulated, and I haven’t even touched the workshop stuff yet.

Love the pistols Brian, they look absolutely fabulous. I have 3 pistols to start and I hope they come near as good as yours.

Greg, I know how it is moving and having too much stuff. We got a dumpster and pitched a bunch of stuff when we moved last. Many of the things were still usable but we just didn't want to deal with moving all of it two states away. Hope you get into the new shop soon.

You did an excellent job. It is hard enough to make one pistol look good , twins more than doubles it. They will look perfect in a frontiers mans sash.

Making a PAIR of pistols is not double the work, or 2X.  It is more like 8X or more.  At least that is the impression that I am left with, having made pistols in pairs.  Brian, you've done a really nice job on this pair.  Very satisfying to accomplish this.
