Banded Horn W/Two Part Screw Tip

It's been awhile, this one is about 14 1/4" around the outside curve, 11 1/4 tip-to-tip. The butt is about 2 1/2" Cherry, hollowed out about an inch, the finial is turned antler with a screw in it, it is held in place by 3 wooden pegs that are covered by the base band that has 3 iron pins in it, the other 2 have the same. The tip is antler threaded to the horn collar witch both are 5/8-11. Color is from a dye bath and Brown shoe polish. Kind of an odd shaped horn.

Well done Tim! The color with the contrast of the bands and tips make it all work together. Keep it up!

I really like the shape and finishes on this one. If a man were to have one horn, he could do a lot worse than this one. I think a person would get right fond of this one.
Glad you are feeling better and are back in the saddle.
God Bless, Marc

Nice one, Tim! Gonna have to try some screw tips, if I ever get my shop moved to the new house.

What an outstanding piece. What do you use the thread the muzzle of the horn?

What's not to like about this lovely horn. I like everything about it including the shape of the horn. Thank you for posting this gem!

I use a standard 5/8-11 NC tap and die.
