I  have always liked the eagle cheek piece inlays and think this one is a bit special.. Not the most elaborate but certainly above average...Louie

Louie,
Not sure if this is an eagle, but represents some type of bird?
This is on a half stock rifle by Ambrose Chapin, Earlville, N.Y.

I believe Hlbly’s patchbox finial is a “distlefink” or thistle finch in Moravian-speak of the day. We call then Goldfinches. My favorite patchbox design. God bless, Marc

Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.
