I believe Hlbly’s patchbox finial is a “distlefink” or thistle finch in Moravian-speak of the day. We call then Goldfinches. My favorite patchbox design. God bless, Marc

What a great bunch of eagles !  I like them all..  I had never seen anything close to the two posted by Mark Tyler. Those  with the photos .. That builder had a mind of his own..   I am posting an eagle made here in the Midwest by Phillip Creamer.. The rifle is in the Missouri Historical Society Museum in St. Louis.....  Louie

The Hunting Eagle on the Vogler in Bill Ivy's book is a great eagle, I don't have a picture of it but maybe someone here does and can post it.

Did someone say Vogler???

Here are three eagles by John Vogler

Nathaniel Vogler liked eagles too.

Can't leave out Christoph Vogler

George Foltz trained under Christoph and did a pretty good job also.

Here is a stylized Eagle on my Hess rifle. Almost Andy Warhol-ish.

More great eagles..The one on Wayne's rifle sure stands proud..I like that..

Ardie you did a great job on your little eagle..In about 1969 I made a miniature Armstrong.  I still have it.. It was
certainly a labor of love as  I was a big Armstrong fan....  Louie

Louie,

Do you have some pictures of your little Armstrong? I would love to see them.
You can also send them as a personal message.
Thanks!

Kudos to you on a great thread - hope to see you in a couple of weeks. Great eagles everyone, a great supplement to fill the void of canceled shows - thank you for posting.
