Painted Horn W/Screw Tip & Base
« on: July 22, 2020, 08:26:12 PM »
One more painted horn, this one is about 15 3/4" around the outside curve and 13 tip-to-tip. The butt is two part Apple threaded 1/2-6, held in by four iron pins. It has a "v" grove cut around the base that the horn fits in. The tip is two part horns, the tip is threaded 5/8-11, it screws into the collar and both of them are screwed to the horn. The collar has an Iron band around it.
 Carla did the art work.

I cannot imagine what it is like to look at a chunk of tree, and visualize a two piece base plug.  And then craft it.  Great build-along.

Not sure which to admire first, the horn or the art. Beautiful work on both your parts.

Might be a piece from my back yard.  If so it did die and went to Ohio😊
Soon on it's way to NC🚙

Yes it is Dennis, last piece. I was not sure I would get anything out of it but it turned out pretty nice.

I am one happy camper on this end.  Tim and Carla outdid themselves on this horn.  I took a couple more detail photos for y'all.  I am wondering how Carla makes the leaves fade away in areas.  Fascinating to look at.  That iron ring on the tip that Tim installed is another tricky, impressive element.  I've joked that horns should all get filled and have a chance to "go out and play" in the field.  Well, not this one.  :-)   God Bless,   Marc
