I see that you used the much besmirched Bivins butt plate. Frankly I like that butt plate very much and used it in my own Haines interpretation.

Looks outstanding.....and I have a question.....why is that particular butt plate "besmirched"? Personally, I like it.
Great job on your build, it is going to be a lovely rifle.I like the butt plate even though Haines may not have used it, it has become known for contemporary builders as a Haines butt plate. The biggest problem that I have with this casting is that the angle between the heel and the toe is to close and needs to be opened up a bit. The first thing I do to these anneal and open up the angle. The next thing is it is a thick and heavy casting, I remove as much of the thickness as possible. This helps trim this butt plate up into a really nice piece.
