Kibler Southern Mountain Rifle...are Barrels Interchangeable?
« on: August 14, 2020, 05:36:45 PM »
I have a finished Kibler Southern Mountain rifle .36 Cal.  Can a .40 or .45 Kibler barrel be interchangeable with the .36 barrel?

Yes. I changed mine from .36 to .45.

I guess it won't work as I talked to Jim and the tang was changed 1 1/2 years ago.  So if it was built before that time, you can't fit a new barrel to the original rifle  :(

You could fit the original tang to a new barrel and it should work.

Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?

Don't see why it wouldn't work. If the tang and breach plug is the same length an thread.  Worst case scenario is the barrel lugs might have to be moved an repinned...It's just a matter of lining things up...but then again I might be all wet on this...
But to make life easier just buy another one... Man can't have to many guns...Oldtravler
