Powder horn

Hi,

It is said to come from a collector who collected Indian Americana so my question is, can that be true....
I should really appreciate your opinions about this one....

Can you give us some dimensions so we can get an idea of the size? It looks too small to be a powder horn to me.

The only measurement I got is Height 14 cm....
I only got interested when it should be Indian Americana so to speak but I guess, it is impossible to say only by looking on pictures...

Can someone explain to this dope, me, how the bulbous end is sealed off, what appears to be naturally?
It looks like the horn grew this way, but that seems to be the wrong end.

How certain are we about it actually being from north America, and not Scandinavia somewhere?

 Is that a horn or a gourd? How long is it, I'm wondering how it was carried, don't see a place for a strap. Are we sure it is even a Powder horn? I would think the stopper would have some carbon on it from the powder.

No, I must admit that I am not sure of anything.... I am just going on the information which is not much from the seller and therefore I am going to the expertise on this forum and I am really grateful for every answer I can get...

Well, it doesn’t appear to have a plug in the end, so not part of a horn.  My guess would be a small gourd of some kind.
Maybe a primer?

Its a gourd. At one time I had a friend who grew them for sale at events. Eastern Indians used them for nearly all types of containers.

Priming gourd. Used to hold a small amount of 4FFFFg powder to prime the pan.

One thing to keep in mind is horn and gourd were used for many functions throughout history. So it may not be a muzzleloading related item at all.
