Which lock?
« on: August 18, 2009, 07:59:21 PM »
I am thinking of using one of the drum style patent breeches, I used one of these on a pistol once and remembered it was hard to find a lock to match up with it. Does anyone know what lock is the best to use with this style of breech?

I think that most of the percussion locks I tried on the breech came too straight down towards the drum and it needed one that the hammer came in more at an angle. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The locks with no cut out on the plate for the drum are the most forgiving and best for positioning. A small amount of hammer bending and nose recess grinding will always be necessary for the final fitting.
